Nursery

Welcome to Nursery!

Our Nursery Key Workers:

Mrs Green

Miss Sutton

We have lots of fun discovering in Nursery each day!

Please take some time to explore our page and find out what our Nursery children have been up to.

In Nursery your child will be developing their listening skills to help prepare them for our phonics scheme FFT's Success for all Phonics.

In Autumn term children in Nursery will work on their phase 1 phonics skills by fine tuning their listening and understanding skills.

We do this by talking with a partner, playing sound games, going on listening walks, paying close attention to sounds in our environment and many things more.

In spring term children in nursery will begin to engage with our phonics scheme, FFT's success for all phonics. Children in our nursery begin on our First Steps to phonics programme. Your child will continue to follow this scheme until Year 2.

You can find more information about the scheme we follow here:

Home reading

Your child will have the opportunity to visit our school library once a week. Whilst in the library the children listen to a story and then get to choose a book that they will take home.

This book is for reading for pleasure. You should read this story aloud to your child. A good time to do this would be each night before bed.

In Autumn term our topic was Starry Night. We learnt about nocturnal animals, animals that hibernate, people who work at night and space!

During Spring term our topic will be "Are carrots orange?"

We will try new food, visit a supermarket and think about how to keep ourselves healthy.

Have a look at some of the exciting things we get up to in Nursery...
